+NumPy is the fundamental package for scientific computing with Python. It

+- a powerful N-dimensional array object
+- sophisticated (broadcasting) functions
+- tools for integrating C/C++ and Fortran code
+- useful linear algebra, Fourier transform, and random number capabilities
